EFK Ported Barrel, 52396, HK Full-Size, 45 ACP
By JO, Loyal Customer On 04/08/2009 EFK Barrels & Choke Tubes EFK Ported Barrel, 52396, HK Full-Size, 45 ACP
Of note: I don''t recall ever writing a review before, but just had to after this purchase... My experience: Gun owner of a variety of guns for over 20yrs; military experience with weapons; couple of local competition wins, but nothing professional. I own two full size HK .45''s. I love the guns - easy to handle, and extremely accurate. But not when I placed in the EFK FIRE DRAGON ported barrel. Not even close. I''m appalled and need to explore how to return this useless piece of metal. For understanding, the pistol has the laser made for the HK, and was sighted in previously and has been incredibly accurate. I placed the barrel into one of the 45''s, noticed the nice fit, and shot at 25 yards, and wondered where in the world the shot went on the target (indoor range). To my complete confusion, I noticed a hole nearly FIVE-to-SIX INCHES low!! OK, maybe teh barrel needs a little breaking in. Each subsequent shot (15 rounds) was consistantly 5 - 6 inches lower than the point I was aiming at, and spread out a bit. In fact, if I used the normal sights to aim, there is no possible way to adjust those sights to compensate for the bullet traveling at such a low trajectory. I had brought the second identical HK .45 to sight in a second laser I had just received for it. The first HK was purchased in 1998, but this second one was purchased only months ago (Jan 2009). So, before even using the laser, I removed the FIRE DRAGON barrel from the first gun and placed it into the second for contrast. The exact same results!? Rounds were all hitting 5 - 6 inches low and scattered. I placed the original barrels back into both weapons and they performed flawlessly and amazingly accurate, as before. I purchased the FIRE DRAGON barrel in hopes to reduce the recoil - the recoil is not bad, but I thought it might help for quick firing. Have to say, even in this capacity, I didn''t really notice any real difference in recoil, but cannot perform any true test to prove what I think on this point, so this is just opinion. The inexcusable low firing and inaccuracy of this barrel, however, is fact. This barrel is an abysmal failure and should be avoided. I just don''t understand WHY I haven''t read other threads announcing the waste of money this barrel is. If I missed something about this barrel, please, someone tell me - am I supposed to put a hundred rounds through it first or something? I didn''t read anything that hinted to a break-in. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Jeff
